Challenge Tournament Rules
*Please respect the facility; we are guests in a multi-million-dollar house*
Baden game balls supplied by tournament; scorers collect after each game!
1. Pool play is round-robin. Pool winners will play for tournament championship.
2. Ties in pool broken by (in order): 1. Head-to-Head Results, 2. Overall Point Differential (+/- 15 points maximum per
game), 3. Free-throw shootout.
3. Free-Throw Shootout Procedure: 1. Teams still tied after tie-breakers Nos. 1 & 2 will report to Court 1 at 12:20 p.m. on
Sunday, Feb. 15, 2. Each coach will designate three initial shooters, 3. Coin toss will determine order of shooting, 4. Team
awarded point for a round if its shooters makes and opponent’s shooter misses, 5. Best of three rounds, 6. If tied after
three rounds, Shootout goes to sudden death with each team sending out a shooter who has not previous participated in the
Shootout.
4. Games are 20-minute running clock halves. Clock is stopped during the last two minutes of each half and during timeouts.
5. Three (3) one-minute timeouts per game.
6. Two-minute, stop-clock overtime if teams are tied after regulation; one-minute, stop-clock overtime if teams are tied
after subsequent overtime periods. One timeout (one-minute) per team for each overtime period. No carry over on timeouts.
7. No shot clock.
8. Rosters – Scorebook. Each team is responsible for entering full roster into scorebook before game.
9. Sportsmanship: Game officials will receive instructions to police this carefully, including behavior of each team’s fans and parents. Unacceptable behavior includes but is not limited to consuming drinks or food outside designated areas (includes parents and fans); leaving behind empty drink containers in bench area after game; cursing, taunting or mocking opponent’s players, coaches or fans or game officials; yelling or waving arms during free-throw attempts; refusing to shake hands post-game. Game officials are empowered to assess a team’s head coach with a technical foul for violations of these and any other sportsmanship-related transgressions.
10. Coaches Meeting: There will be a coaches meeting before the Feb. 10 Sonics-Warriors game at KeyArena in Suite 53, 6:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Suite tickets were included with your team's Sonic ticket packs. An unexcused absence will result in a technical foul being assessed against the head coach in his/her team's first game.
11. Technical Fouls: Each technical foul is two points and the ball to the opposing team. Technicals resulting from fan or
parent behavior are charged against the head coach of the team. Two technical fouls against a coach or player will result in
expulsion from the game and suspension from the team’s next game.
12. Championship games will be 16-minute, stop-clock halves with three (3) one-minute timeouts and one 30-second timeout for
regulation play. Overtimes will be two-minute, stop-clock.
13. In the event of time constraints, tournament directors reserve the right to reduce the above stop-clock criteria.
14. With the exception of the above, high school rules apply. All disputes will be resolved by the tournament directors.
There will be no further protest.

Directions: Off I-5, take MERCER ST. exit (No. 167). Off the exit, take right, then left at the light, street turns
into Broad, then Harrison. Take right on 5th Ave. N. (you'll see the EMP). Take a right at the commuter parking lot (Nate
McMillan outdoor courts and skateboard park). Note: KeyArena is on the opposite side of Seattle Center.

Parking: The Furtado Center is surrounded by the Fifth Avenue Parking lot, which offers carpool rates for cars with three or more passengers. The Mercer Street Garage is approximately three blocks away. There sometimes is free street parking in the neighborhoods across Mercer, north of Tower Records.
Local amenities & attractions: The Furtado Center is just on the outskirts of the Seattle Center, which hosts rides and attractions, KeyArena (home of the Sonics and Storm) and Experience Music Project. The EMP is a five-minute walk away and a recommended attraction. Concessions will be available at the Furtado Center; fast food restaurants abound in the area, including in the Center House.
