Triple Threat (7) 39, Dragons 36

SEATTLE, Nov. 3, 2001 - The Dragons kept Triple Threat's star post player in check and led for much of the game, including most of the second half, but lost control near the end of a tightly contested matchup for the RB Sports Fall League championship.

Triple Threat pulled even, then charged ahead 37-32, but Briana scored a three-point play and Sassia answered a Triple Threat bucket with a free throw during the last minute.

Phyllea capped a super-charged afternoon for the Dragons with a game-high 14 points, on 7-for-11 shooting. She also collected 10 points during a semifinal victory over Redmond.

The Dragons played with a flu-riddled backcourt and were missing their second-leading scorer, Danielle.

Triple Threat's leading scorer, Colleen, was limited to six points and was harrassed into committing a game-high six turnovers.

Hitting the first basket of the game, Phyllea collected eight of those points as the Dragons led from the beginning to the waning minutes of the first half.

Sarah, Kayce, Sassia and Elisa all scored unanswered buckets as the Dragons bolted out of a halftime deficit into a 24-17 lead. But the Dragons went cold and committed five turnovers as Triple Threat rallied late in the game.

RB Sports Playoffs:
Dragons 44, Redmond 21

SEATTLE, Nov. 3 - Elisa had seven points and Sarah pitched in five as the Dragons opened the second half with a 14-2 run that overwhelmed Redmond and advanced the Dragons into the championship game.

Briana had seven of her game-high 11 as the Dragons mounted a 23-11 halftime lead. Phyllea added 10 points on a variety of highlight-reel moves and Elisa finished with nine.

The Dragons shot a season-high 44 percent and held Redmond's top two players to a combined 1-for-6 shooting and four points and forced them into a combined 12 turnovers.

Scoring: Briana 11, Phyllea 10, Elisa 9, Sarah 7, Marquitta 4 and Kayce 3.
Turnovers: Dragons 13, Redmond 19.
Shooting: Dragons 18/41 (44%), Redmond 8/32 (25%).

Dragons 44, Force (7) 19
SEATTLE, Oct. 20, 2001 - Briana scored 10 points and Sarah hit a three-pointer as the Dragons ripped off a 15-0 run near the start of the second half to break open their second victory of the season over Kirkland.

The Force, which lost 50-11 earlier this season to the Dragons, actually led at several points in the first half and, for the last time, 13-12 at the beginning of the second.

The Dragons played tentatively against the Force zone defense and managed only four free-throw attempts, a season low.

Making her first start of the season, Marquitta scored a season-high six points.

Scoring: Brianna 20, Kayce and Marquitta 6, Sarah 5 and Elisa 4.
Turnovers: Dragons 9, Force 17.
Shooting: Dragons 18/35 (35%), Force 8/24 (33%).

Triple Threat (7) 48, Dragons 32
SEATTLE, Oct. 20, 2001 - Triple Threat's pressure forced 23 turnovers and allowed them to avenge an earlier loss to the Dragons.

With their post, Colleen, accounting for eight of her game-high 17 points, Triple Threat jumped to a 13-0 lead that the Dragons could never really overcome. Triple Threat also downed four three-pointers.

The Dragons, who shot a frosty 28 percent from the field, never got any closer than 10 points.

Scoring: Kayce 7, Elisa and Marquitta 6, Briana 5, Danielle 4, Elise and Sassia 2.
Turnovers: Dragons 23, Triple Threat 13.
Shooting: Dragons 13/46 (28%), Triple Threat 16/36 (44%).

Dragons 42, Redmond 29
SEATTLE, Oct. 13 - Briana scored six of her game-high 11 points during a defense-inspired 10-0 second-half run that put the game away for the Dragons, who staged two comebacks to earn the victory.

Sassia, who had seven points and no turnovers at the point, chipped in consecutive buckets during the spurt.

Redmond rang up a 16-9 lead in the first half, but the Dragons responded with full-court pressure and ripped off the final eight points of the period to take a 17-16 lead into halftime. Kayce scored four of the points and she and Sassia hit four straight free throws to ignite the run.

In the second half, Kayce's three-point play pulled the Dragons out of a 19-20 deficit. The basket-attacking Dragons outscored Redmond 8-4 from the free-throw line.

Scoring: Briana 11, Kayce 8, Sassia 7, Danielle, Elisa, Phyllea and Sarah 4.

Dragons 37, YES (7) 33 (OT)
SEATTLE, Oct. 13, 2001 - Kayce and Danielle sank free throws with 8.9 and 3.9 seconds left in regulation, then scored baskets and the Dragon defense held tight in overtime.

Kayce, who had a game-high 15 points, hit four free throws down the stretch of regular, and Elisa scored a bucket in the final seconds, to keep the Dragons in the game.

The Dragons had fallen behind 33-31 on a YES three-pointer with 18.6 seconds remaining.

With Kayce and Danielle each chipping in three points, the Dragons raced out to an early 9-1 advantage, but struggled when struck with foul trouble. Phyllea eventually fouled out and Danielle finished the game with four fouls for the Dragons, who were short-handed with only seven players.

The Dragons clung tenaciously to slim margins -- the largest being three points -- throughout the second half.

Scoring: Kayce 15, Danielle 8, Elisa and Sassia 6, and Sarah 2.
Turnovers: Dragons 7, YES 6.
Shooting: Dragons 15/40 (38%), YES 9/20 (45%).

SEATTLE, Oct. 6, 2001 - Sarah and Kayce combined for 10 points down the stretch as the Dragons rallied, then pulled away for the victory.

Triple Threat had a slim 18-17 margin after a tightly contest first half, but the Dragons started the second half strongly.

Kayce had seven of her team-high 11 points in the first half. She finished the day 8 of 15 from the field.

Scoring: Kayce 11, Danielle 7, Sarah 6, Phyllea 5, Elisa and Elise 4, Sassia 3, Marquitta 1.

Dragons 50, Force (7) 11
SEATTLE, Oct. 6 - Danielle equaled a team season high with 16 points, including 10 as the Dragons raced to a 21-point halftime lead.

The 16 points tied Briana's output in the season opener against Woodinville.

Sarah popped in a pair of three-pointers in the second half, swelling her season total to four successful shots from beyond the three-point stripe.

Elisa scored five of her seven points in the first half to help the Dragons get established in their halfcourt offense.

Scoring: Danielle 16, Elisa 7, Kayce and Sarah 6, Elise, Marquitta and Sassia 4, Phyllea 3.
Turnovers: Dragons 7, Force 23.

SEATTLE, Sept. 29, 2001 - The young Dragons were rendered panic-stricken by an experienced, full-court-pressing YES team.

Caught without a fully developed press break, the Dragons were forced into committing 27 turnovers, all of which YES feasted for fast-break baskets.

Among the few highlights for the Dragons, Sarah connected on a three-pointer for the second straight game.

Scoring: Danielle and Phyllea 5, Kayce 4, Briana, Sassia and Briana 3.
Turnovers: Dragons 27, YES 8.
Shooting: Dragons 8/31 (25.8%), YES 24/52 (46.2%).
Halftime:YES 26, Dragons 10.

Dragons 39, Woodinville Spirit 12
SEATTLE, Sept. 29 - The Dragons broke the game open with stifling three-quarter-court pressure during the last 2 1/2 minutes of the first half and rode the game-high 16 points from Briana in an auspicious debut.

Sassia collected three points from the foul line, Danielle chipped in a pair of free throws and Briana and Kayce added buckets as the Dragons outscored the Falcons 9-2 during the final couple minutes of opening half.

Briana went crazy with 10 points in a second half again fueled by Dragon-powered defense. The shell-shocked Falcons managed to sink only one basket, out of 18 tries, in the second half and finished the game having shot just 16.7 percent from the field.

Despite their fast-paced play, the Dragons turned the ball over only six times the entire way.

Sarah's three-pointer touched off an 11-1 rampage midway through the half that essentially finished Woodinville.

Scoring: Briana 16, Danielle 8, Sassia and Sarah 5, Kayce 4 and Elisa 1.
Turnovers: Dragons 6, Falcons 22.
Shooting: Dragons 15/48 (33.3%), Falcons 5/30 (16.7%).
