The Drill: Ricochet
Chris Bown
By
Chris Bown
HoopGurlz columnist
Posted Oct 28, 2004
A former assistant with the Seattle Storm and now coaching at Lakeside and the NW HoopGurlz, Chris Bown has made his mark with individual player development. His latest
The Drill
column outlines a drill for posts that works on movement, rebounding, finishing and moves.
Required:
One post player, one coach, two balls.
Post player starts under the basket with a ball. Coach starts at a point just under the free-throw line, facing the basket. Post passes the ball to the coach and follows the pass to the free-throw line and returns. The coach will toss the ball off the glass. Post follows the toss, gets the rebound and puts the shot back in.
Variations:
Once the player gets the rebound, coach can move to a spot on the same side as the rebound, post passes back to coach and shapes up for a return pass. Post works on a specific move.
Coach also can move to the opposite side of the floor so the post can work on getting open coming across the key. Post works on a specific move.
