Allie Picha of Bainbridge

The holiday brought few definitive answers, so the HoopGurlz Elite Eleven reflects the usual weather pattern in Washington this time of year.

The holiday tournaments that promised to bring clarity to the picture of elite high-school girl's basketball in Washington State brought something more like the post-Christmas blahs. Nothing really lived up to the pre-holiday hype.
Auburn Riverside hosted the most ambitious event, luring one of the preseason darlings, Lincoln, into a shootout with itself, last year's 4A runners-up (Snohomish) and University with the state's best player, Angie Bjorklund, in tow. Well, Lincoln and University won both of their games, though not altogether authoritatively, and Auburn Riverside and Snohomish each dropped two by slim margins.
To us, that's more a picture of parity than anything else.
The teams that accomplished the most over the holidays were those who continued to build their cases, should anyone above them should falter.
Bainbridge, the surprise team of the early season, improved its record to 10-0 but, more importantly, added a quality win - 54-55 over wait-listed White River - to its ledger. The Spartans have been impressive for the diversity of their attack, sparked by freshman Brittany Gray, though senior Allie Picha came to life last week. Bainbridge will test its mettle against Holy Names, Blanchet and then Chief Sealth during its next three outings.
The HoopGurlz.com Elite Eleven high-school girls basketball team rankings are featured on KING-TV's Sports Blitz and The Seattle Times.
Meanwhile, lurking on the Wait List, Central Kitsap and Woodinville preserved unbeaten records, winning divisions of the Surf 'n Slam tournament in San Diego, and East Valley also remained unblemished with two impressive wins at Yakima's Sun Dome.
We've added Inglemoor to the Wait List after knocking West Valley out of the rankings altogether and knocking off fellow wait-listers, Ellensburg, despite a pair of three-pointers from standout sophomore post Kayla Standish. Inglemoor has impressive inside to mid-range punch from Sara Ena and Ashley Brown and solid guard play from Danika Brace.
