After whittling her list to three finalists, exciting wing prospect Devereaux Peters of Chicago, Ill., made a commitment on Monday to Notre Dame.

Devereaux Peters, a 6-foot-2 wing who is ranked 34th in the 2007 class, made a verbal commitment to Notre Dame today, her father, Delacy, told HoopGurlz.com.
Peters, a senior at Fenwick High School in Chicago, Ill., chose the Irish over Maryland and Virginia, both of whom hosted her for official visits.

The four-star prospect made her official visit to South Bend, Ind., on a Sept. 8-10 weekend that included the Irish's 41-17 victory over Penn State. She also made an unofficial visit last year on a weekend that included the Irish's classic, last-second loss to USC.
Peters becomes the eighth Division I commitment on a strong Chicago Hoops Express club team, joining Hope Elam (St. Louis), Veronica Hicks (Michigan), Alison Jackson (Ohio State), Katie O'Donoghue (Illinois-Chicago), Tatiana Ortiz (St. Louis), Caitlin Pauley (Cincinnati) and Meshia Reed (Northwestern). Lykendra Johnson, another Hoops Express win from Chicago who is No. 30 in the HoopGurlz National Hot 100, is down to Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Michigan State and Purdue. One other Hoops Express player, Marche' Smith, also is expected to make a DI commitment.
In Peters, Notre Dame, 18-12 last season, is getting an excellent, long athlete who flows well on the floor. She has improving ballhandling skills as well as a smooth jumper accurate to 16-18 feet. Peters is very good in transition and disruptive with her long arms and explosiveness on defense as a shot-blocker.
