Top Post Picks Buckeyes
National Director of Scouting
Posted Oct 25, 2006
Ohio State, which already received commitments from two of the top shooters in the Midwest, got a verbal from an elite center to put with them. The player had been the highest ranked uncommitted 2007 prospect in the country.

The highest ranked post player in the 2007 class and the highest rated uncommitted player in the nation made her decision. Tuesday night,
of Cleveland, Ohio, committed to Ohio State University. She chose the Buckeyes over Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
Lavender is 6-foot-4 and the most complete post player in the country. She can score with her back to the basket and step out to 18-feet to stretch the defense. She also rebounds, passes, defends and could very well be the next Big Ten star.
The commitment is the third player from the HoopGurlz.com National Hot 100 to choose Ohio State. Lavender, No. 3 overall, will get plenty of perimeter support from guard
of Olney, Ill., the No. 33 overall prospect, and wing
of Oak Park, Ill., No. 61. Both are 5-11 and excellent shooters.
Lavender was a preseason All-American selection by HoopGurlz.com, two-time Ohio Division III Player of the Year and a Parade Third Team All-American last year.
At Ohio State, Lavender could be extending the legacy of tough post play that
is currently building. Davenport, a senior and two-time Kodak All-American will leave a giant void in the Buckeyes front court and Lavender is hoping to step in and fill that void right away for head coach Jim Foster’s squad.
Foster is starting his fifth season at Ohio State and the Buckeyes are coming off a 29-3 record in 05-06. This year they will get to see how UCLA transfer
fits in when she becomes eligible in mid-December. With Jackson, Johnson, Lavender and Trebilcock, along with a five-player freshman class, Ohio State is reloading and putting the Big Ten on notice.
