The rollout of the HoopGurlz National Honor Roll, which commemorates achievement on the court (high-school and club basketball) and off (classroom and community), picks up with Massachusetts through Missouri.

MASSACHUSETTS

Valerie Blackwood
Notre Dame Prep, Fitchburg, Mass.
6-4 center, Class of 2007
Louisville signee

Ranked among Blue Star's top 100 prospects, Blackwood is a native of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, who was an adidas All-American and Fab Five Camp invitee.

Alyssa Jann
Westford Academy, Westford, Mass.
6-1 guard, Class of 2007
Colgate signee

A three-time Street and Smith All-America honorable mention who is ranked among Blue Star's top 125 prospects, Jann has been averaging more than 20 points during her senior season, despite constant double-teams. She was named the Lowell Sun's Player of the Year and to the Boston Herald's Super Team after averaging 19 points, 5.5 rebounds and four assists as a junior. Also excelling in the classroom, Jann is a 4.0 student, member of the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society, a DECA National Finalist and donates time weekly to a battered women's home.

Sheylani Peddy
Melrose High, Melrose, Mass
5-7 guard, Class of 2007

Peddy has an outstanding handle, blows by defenders on penetration and makes clean, crisp, often impossible passes look easy. She was named MVP of the Middlesex League for the second straight year after averaging 17.9 points as a junior. Peddy also was named to the Boston Globe's Super Team, the Boston Herald's Dream Team and to the All-Scholastic teams of both newspapers, plus is ranked among Blue Star's top 150 prospects.

Carolyn Swords
Lincoln-Sudbury Regional, Sudbury, Mass.
6-5 center, Class of 2007
Boston College signee

A classic, back-to-the-basket center with some strong post moves and unflappable demeanor, Swords was named the Dual County League MVP as a junior, after averaging 17 points and 11 points and led Lincoln-Sudbury to its first league title in a decade. She also has been named All-Scholastic by the Boston Herald and to the Boston Globe's Super Team, as well as twice a MetroWest all-star. Swords was ranked among the nation's top 160 prospects by Blue Star Basketball.

MICHIGAN

Keisha Hines
Avondale HS, Auburn Hills, Mich.
6-3 forward, Class of 2007
Louisville signee

Ranked among the top 120 prospects in her class by Blue Star Basketball, Hines finished third in Miss Basketball balloting after averaging 17 points, 13.5 rebounds and three assists while leading Avondale to the OAA Division I title and No. 1 ranking in State A. She averaged 18 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and two steals while helping Avondale to the Class A regional title and a 23-3 record during her junior season. An outstanding rebounder and shot-blocker, Hines also helped the Orion Piston finish fifth at AAU Nationals.

Lakeisha Mosely
Detroit Community, Detroit, Mich.
6-1 forward, Class of 2007
Purdue signee

The No. 87 prospect in her class, according to HoopGurlz.com, Mosley averaged 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead Community to the Class C quarterfinals, where eventual state-champion Saginaw Nouvel won in overtime. A strong and physical player, she was named All-State by both the Detroit News and Free-Press.

Cetera Washington
Loy Norrix HS, Kalamazoo, Mich.
6-1 forward, Class of 2007
Michigan State signee

A quick, athletic and versatile player who can score inside and out and is big time in transition, Washington was named to the Detroit News' All-State team and finished fourth in Miss Basketball balloting after averaging 22.8 points, 11.3 rebounds, 5.2 blocks and 4.8 steals her senior season. She averaged 26.2 points (with a season high of 48), to go with 11.4 rebounds and 5.0 blocks as a junior, earning honorable-mention, all-state and Detroit News Dream Team honors.

Kellie Watson
Ionia HS, Ionia, Mich.
6-2 wing, Class of 2008

In spite of suffering a season-ending shoulder injury two-thirds through her junior season, Watson was named Player of the Year by the Lansing State Journal, selected to the Class B All-State team and Detroit News and Detroit Free-Press All-State teams and ranked the best player in the state by the Free-Press. A versatile scorer, who can hurt defenses inside and out (42 percent from three-point range), as well as off the dribble, Watson averaged 23.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 3.5 blocks during her junior season. She also surpassed the Ionia school record for career points (1,160) before the season-ending injury. Watson also is a an all-state performer in softball.

MINNESOTA

Angel Robinson
Central HS, Saint Paul, Minn.
5-8 guard, Class of 2007
Marquette signee

The No. 79 prospect in the 2007 class by HoopGurlz.com and ranked in the top 75 by Blue Star Basketball, Robinson led Central to a State 4A title, unbeaten record and national ranking, plus was named State Player of the Year by the Associated Press. She averaged 17.1 points, 8.1 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game in leading Central to a 25-4 mark and a third-place finish in the state as a junior. She is explosive at both ends of the floor, plays with elan and gets after it defensively. Robinson was an all-star selection at the adidas Top Ten All-American Camp.

Janessa Wolff
Park Rapids HS, Park Rapids, Minn.
6-3 center, Class of 2007
Penn State signee

The No. 43 prospect in the 2007 class by HoopGurlz.com, Wolff was named first-team, all-state by the Associated Press this season. Sh was the Minnesota Class 3A Player of the Year for her junior season, during which she averaged 25.4 of her team's 53.9 points, as well as 12.1 rebounds and 4.3 blocks. Wolff also collected 23 double-doubles in 27 games during her junior season. She is a three-time All-Conference selection and conference MVP in 2006. Wolff also is an honor student and a standout volleyball and softball player at Park Rapids.

MISSISSIPPI

LaSondra Barrett
Murrah HS, Jackson, Miss.
6-1 forward, Class of 2008

An athletic inside presence at both ends, Barrett is a two-time member of the Clarion-Ledger's Dandy Dozen and a first-team, All-Metro selection after averaging 18.3 points and 10.3 rebounds as a junior. She also earned all-star status at the Junior Phenom Showcase.

Whitney Hood
Meridian HS, Meridian, Miss.
6-3 center, Class of 2007
Clemson signee

Hood has led Meridian to the state finals in 2005 and 2006, earning all-state honors, as well as Dandy Dozen by the Clarion-Ledger, during each season. She opened her senior season by collecting 35 points and 23 rebounds. Hood was named Best Offensive Player in the Mississippi state all-star game after collecting nine points and 13 rebounds.

April Sykes
East Oktibbeha County HS, Crawford, Miss.
5-11 guard, Class of 2008

The No. 2 overall prospect in the 2008 class, according to HoopGurlz.com, Sykes averaged 30 points, 10 rebounds and 3.8 assists at tiny East Oktibbeha County and second-team, All-American honors from Street & Smith and MaxPreps. The Clarion Ledger also selected her first-team, all-state and to its Dandy Dozen in 2006. A big-time scorer with an WNBA body, Sykes has a quick release on her jumper and is powerful on penetrations.

MISSOURI

Danielle Adams
Lee's Summit HS, Lee's Summit, Mo.

Missouri signee

The No. 53 overall prospect in 2007, according to HoopGurlz.com, Adams was named first-team All-State by the MBCA and Missouri Sportswriters & Sportscasters, All-Suburban Big 7 Conference and first-team, All-Metro for the second straight year after averaging 21.4 points and 11.3 rebounds as a junior. She has great size and an unusually high skillset for that size. Adams also was named to the All-American team at the 2006 Miss Basketball Showcase.

Shakara Jones
Howell Central HS, St. Charles, Mo.
6-2 forward, Class of 2007
Missouri signee

Jones was a Street & Smith honorable-mention all-american, Student Sports Junior All-American and Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Class 5 All-State selection after averaging 25.2 points 8.3 rebounds and 3.2 blocks. and 8.5 rebounds as a junior. The MBCA all-state selection was the third of her career. Ranked among Blue Star Basketball's top 100 prospects in the 2007 class, Jones also is a three-time Gateway Athletic Conference All-Academic selection.

Kathleen Scheer
New Haven HS, New Haven, Mo.
6-2 wing, Class of 2008

One of the more complete players in her class, nationally, Scheer averaged 20.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, 5.67 blocks and 4.0 assists during her junior season. She was named Player of the Year in the Four Rivers Conference for the third straight year and has been an all-state selection by both the Missouri coaches and writers. Scheer also has excelled on the summer circuit, being named all-tournament at the River City Classic.

Tyra White
Hickman Mills, Kansas City, Mo.
6-0 guard, Class of 2007
LSU signee

The No. 17 overal prospect in the 2007 class by HoopGurlz.com, White is one of the more explosive players in her class and an extremely creative scorer, who is adept at creating shots off the dribble, by either going past defenders to attack the rim or for pull-up jump shots. She is a two-time All-Metro and All-State selection and was a finalist in 2006 for the DiRenna Award, given to the metro’s player of the year, after averaging 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.0 steals. Hickman Mills compiled a 62-18 overall record and won three straight conference titles during White's first three years there.
