Mike White brings the top girls from around the country to tabacco road to the 2009 Deep South Classic. Full Court breaksdown the contenders and pretenders in the 2009 edition of the Deep South Classic.

Contenders (Signature A & B)

Schedule – www.michaeltwhite.com

Team Breakdown – Breakdown was regarded as one of the top 10 teams in the country last year and although they lost a lot of their talent, they reload instead of rebuild. The addition up front of Jassany Williams and Candace Parsons make their front court as formidable as anyone at the Deep South Classic. Look for Dawnn Maye, the 5’8’’ point guard out of Ft. Lauderdale Dillard, to have a statement weekend as for her candidacy to be a McDonald’s All American in 2010.

Exodus NYC – After reading the Boo Williams Preview, the likelihood is that the top players in the Exodus program will be at Deep South. Bria Hartley is reportedly attending Deep South over Boo and anyone who has the top guard in the class is likely to be a favorite. When together as a whole, the Exodus top team is one of the top 5 teams in the country and as long as nothing goes wrong and everyone shows up, they should win the Deep South Classic this year.

Team Unique – Team Unique is one of the longest standing teams at the Deep South Classic. Team Unique has top 5 sophomore Cierra Burdick as well as 2010 Syracuse commit Tiara Butler. Look for Janay Brinkley, a 5’7’’ PG out of Archbishop Spalding MD, to have a breakout weekend for Team Unique.

Sleepers

Jacksonville Lady Rams – The frantic style of the Rams causes problems but their lack of size and youth puts them into the sleeper category. Look to see how their guards and talent level will compare to teams like Team Unique and Exodus. If they pass those tests, they should be one of the top teams in the country next year because almost their entire roster is returning.

The Future

Go watch Team Breakdown’s 8th grade sensation Iesha Smalls, 5’9’’ G Doral Middle. Smalls is an athletic and skilled wing player who will be one of the top young players in the South in the class of 2013.
