One of the West's top point guards had arthroscopic surgery to repair torn ligaments in her right ankle.

Ashley Corral of Prairie High School in suburban Vancouver, Wash., destined to be one of the most hotly recruited point guards in the 2008 class, had arthroscopic surgery on her right ankle on Monday.

The 5-foot-8 junior dazzled during the recent Washington State 4A tournament with 16.8 points and 3.25 assists, leading Prairie to a sixth-place finish.

Corral's orthopedic surgeon found ligaments he estimated were torn since the ninth grade, according to Corral's father, Art. Corral's ligaments were repaired, and she is expected to make a full recovery and return for summer basketball on July 1.

Considered one of the top three point guards in the West, Corral recently established six favorites - Cal, Notre Dame, Purdue, USC, Vanderbilt and Washington - in her recruitment.
