UW Women Release Schedule

Huskies Open vs. Pro-Am Team
SEATTLE - Washington women's basketball announced the release of its
2002-2003 schedule, Thursday, a challenging slate that features 14 home
dates, including the Seattle Times Classic, as well as four
nationally-televised games by Fox Sports Net and four locally-televised
games by Fox Sports Northwest.
"We're very pleased with the game schedule this year," Husky head coach June
Daugherty said. "It's tremendously competitive for our team to prepare us
to reach our goals. It's also a tremendous opportunity for our fans to see
other nationally ranked basketball programs. We¹re very pleased with the
television exposure. Some of our players have parents out of state, so
they get a chance to see the games. It¹s great for recruiting and it's
something we're excited about."
The Huskies, nationally ranked in three preseason polls, tip off the
exhibition season vs. Bay Area Pro-Am at Bank of America Arena, Sun., Nov.
10, at 1 p.m.
For the fourth straight season, the UW women will make their regular season
debut on the road, Fri., Nov. 22, with a 7 p.m. (MT) game at Boise State.
From Idaho, the Huskies will continue on to Lubbock, Texas to face Texas
Tech, Sun., Nov. 24, at 2 p.m. (CT).
Washington will makes it debut at home with the Seattle Times Classic Nov.
29-30, featuring Kentucky, Pacific and Saint Bonaventure. Other
non-conference games at home include Wisconsin (Dec. 2), San Francisco (Dec.
20) and Iowa State (Dec. 22). The Huskies will also play in the North
Carolina State Tournament in Raleigh, N.C., Dec. 6-7. Joining UW and NC
State in Raleigh will be Florida and Houston.
The always competitive Pac-10 Conference slate for UW begins vs. Washington
State in Pullman, Dec. 28. UW will remain on the road, traveling to UCLA
(Jan. 3) and USC (Jan. 5), before home games with Arizona State (Jan. 9) and
Arizona (Jan. 11). After making the Bay Area swing to Cal (Jan. 16) and
Stanford (Jan. 18), the Huskies return to Seattle for four straight vs.
Oregon (Jan. 23), Oregon State (Jan. 25), USC (Jan. 30) and UCLA (Feb. 1).
The month of February features home games with Stanford (Feb. 13) and Cal
(Feb. 15), and road games at Arizona (Feb. 6), Arizona State (Feb. 8),
Oregon State (Feb. 20) and Oregon (Feb. 22). Washington finishes out the
regular-season schedule with WSU, Sat., Mar. 1, at Bank of America Arena.
The second-annual Pac-10 Conference Tournament will be contested Mar. 7-10
at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.
As a part of the Pac-10 Conference television package, Fox Sports Net will
nationally televise four Husky games, beginning with UW's Nov. 24 game at
Texas Tech. The three other nationally televised games will feature Pac-10
matchups at Stanford (Jan. 18), vs. Oregon State (Jan. 25) and at Arizona
State (Feb. 8).
Washington also has the possibility of being chosen as a Fox Sports Net
wildcard selection on Sat., Feb. 15, vs. Cal, Sat., Feb. 22 at Oregon and
Sat., Mar. 1 vs. Washington State. The Pac-10¹s 18-game regular-season
telecasts will then culminate with live coverage of the last three games of
the 2003 State Farm Pac-10 Women¹s Basketball Tournament, held March 7-10 in
San Jose, Calif.
Locally, Fox Sports Northwest will televise four Husky women's games,
beginning with UW's home debut vs. Saint Bonaventure in the second game of
the Seattle Times Classic, Fri., Nov. 29, at 7:30 p.m. Additional games to
be televised include a Dec. 20 home contest vs. San Francisco, and a Jan. 11
home date with Arizona. The battle of in-state rivals between UW and WSU in
Pullman, Saturday, Dec. 28, at 1 p.m., will also be televised to a local
audience.
